What do you need?

What do you need?

PREPARE YOURSELF

You need to be prepared for the pace of your studies to be fast. We know that you are in a hurry to get back to work and that companies may try to offer jobs to those of you who are already the best during your studies.

The school should help as much as possible by hiring good teachers, having good training materials and recording and saving the teacher’s screen during many of the sessions so that you don’t miss anything and can repeat sessions if you need to.

For iPhone and Android Programmers and Content Producers, the classroom training sessions will be one to two days a week. The rest of the time, you will work on your own or in groups on various tasks.

IS THE TRAINING FULL-TIME?

Yes, our long programs are full-time. It can be tempting to try to work while studying, as this often works at university. But vocational education and training is far more practical, with many tasks to be completed and presented. What’s more, our programs are shorter in length, despite the large amount of content, because many of you are in a hurry to enter the world of work.

We recommend that you set aside time and study full-time to be able to absorb as much as possible of the knowledge you gain from the training.

After a few months, we will pass on various assignments that you and your classmates can choose to work on. Some of these are paid assignments and many of our students choose to start their own businesses during the program. As these assignments are in line with the training, we believe that it is only positive to work on such assignments while studying.

Our short programs are delivered through flexible distance learning, which means you can work while you study. All lessons are videotaped and you have access to support during certain times. You do your own exercises and assignments between lectures.

YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR OWN COMPUTER AND MOBILE PHONE

You should have your own computer. We assume that most of you who apply for our courses already have your own laptop. You will, of course, need your own mobile phone if you are to make a living in these industries during and after your training.

If you are going to go Programmer iPhone and Android and work with app development, we recommend that you acquire a MacBook of some kind as all the tools we will use are available for MacOS. We advise against trying to work virtually with Mac on PC as it often proves not to work in the long run, rather buy a used MacBook to start with. New MacBook Air with Apple Silicon works great.

These Mac models work with the new Xcode 16 according to Apple:

  • iMac 2019 and newer
  • Mac Pro 2019 and newer
  • iMac Pro 2017 and newer
  • Mac Studio 2022 and newer
  • MacBook Air 2018 and newer
  • Mac mini 2018 and newer
  • MacBook Pro 2018 and newer

If you can, choose at least 16 GB of RAM in your computer. Keep in mind that you are entitled to student discounts through Mecenat.

Content Producer students can choose between Mac or Windows, but some of the modules involve working with large and heavy documents and powerful software, so please choose a modern laptop with at least 16 GB and either Apple Silicon (M series) or at least i7 or AMD 5 series.

The school will provide, free of charge, alternative mobile phone models as well as tablets of various types, wireless network, printers, and some software and educational licenses. But you should have your own mobile phone.

If you are studying iPhone and Android Programmer, you will receive developer licenses for iOS and sales licenses for Google Play paid for by the school during your studies, as well as access to your own advanced website. If you are studying Content Producer, you will be reimbursed for Adobe Express for the duration of your enrollment at the school and you will have your own web account for publishing.

Our teachers try to keep costs down for you by choosing materials available online or otherwise avoiding expensive and perhaps less rewarding traditional course materials. If you are a member of Unionen or another trade union, you can ask if the union can help with contributions to course literature.

YOU WHO ARE TAKING A SHORT COURSE

As the training is distance learning, you are on your own. Depending on the course you are taking – and your ambition – you will need more or less advanced equipment. Ask us at info@my.se if you are unsure.
