Eligibility and specific knowledge

WHO ARE YOU?

Most of you are usually somewhere between 25 and 35 years old, but we have absolutely no barriers for younger or older than that. You feel that you want to invest heavily in your education and are in a hurry to get out into the market to use your new skills – and work and earn money.

We never treat anyone differently, regardless of gender or background. We value everyone equally and hold everyone to the same high standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To be admitted to a university of applied sciences program, you must meet the general entry requirements. This means that you must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent.

Many of our courses also require specific prior knowledge. For example, you must have passed certain specific courses from upper secondary school or have certain work experience.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY:

For all Higher Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs, you must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent. The rules are generous and applicants with different backgrounds and experience have the opportunity to meet the requirements.

You are eligible for admission to our courses if you meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Have a secondary school diploma from upper secondary school or municipal adult education.
  2. have a Swedish or foreign education that meets the requirements of point 1.
  3. Are resident in Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway and qualified for the corresponding course there.
  4. Through Swedish or foreign education, practical experience or due to some other circumstance, you have the prerequisites to benefit from the education.

Point 4 is about the fact that you can become qualified in other ways than through upper secondary school grades. Everyone carries knowledge and skills with them. Some have acquired these through formal education, such as upper secondary or tertiary education, while others may have acquired them through work, community activities or leisure courses. This is called prior learning.

Malmö University of Applied Sciences can assess your actual competence, for example by carrying out various tests to see if your knowledge corresponds to the upper secondary school courses. The assessment can take different forms. One particular method is called validation.

SPECIFIC PRIOR KNOWLEDGE:

In some programs there are requirements for specific prior knowledge. You may need to pass one or more specific courses from upper secondary school. Our short courses require work experience in a specific professional field to qualify.

For iPhone and Android Programmer, you need to have at least grade E/3/G in the following courses or equivalent knowledge

  • Mathematics 2
  • Programming 1

For Content Producer, you need to have at least grade E/3/G in the following courses or equivalent knowledge

  • Swedish 3
  • English 6
  • Mathematics 2

The requirements for specific prior knowledge are based on the competence requirements for the professional role formulated by the world of work for the professional roles in question.

If your grades in these courses are not shown in your submission, you must justify why you think you have equivalent knowledge, for example through work certificates or grades from other courses. Contact us for more information by calling 0200-210 999 or emailing info@my.se

SWEDISH:

You should also have sufficient knowledge of Swedish to be able to benefit from the training and should have sufficient knowledge of English as parts of the training material and some lessons and lectures are in English.

REAL SKILLS:

If you do not have a certificate or diploma but consider that you have equivalent knowledge today (for example, you did not study programming in upper secondary school, but have studied technical subjects at university level), you can fill in the application but indicate this in the free text box. The school will get back to you with information on how your knowledge and skills will be measured.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE:

Anyone attending a course of study at a university of applied sciences is entitled to receive special educational support if you need it to achieve the objectives of the course. As the education provider, we are responsible for ensuring that you receive the support you need. Read more at the Swedish Agency for Higher Vocational Education and contact the school for further discussion.

SELECTION:

If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of places available, they will all be invited to a special test. This is done in order to make a fair selection of those who are best placed to benefit from the training.
